Frequently Asked Questions

Diet & Nutrition

Are your snacks gluten free?

Yes. All our All Natural Beef Snacks are gluten free. Beef is naturally gluten free, and all of our spices are certified gluten free.

Can your jerky snacks help me lose weight?

Yes. Because our beef snacks are high in protein, they are very good to snack on and help keep you full until your next healthy meal. Our Jerky is very lean, and our Beef Sticks and Beef Bites have much less fat than traditional beef sticks.

Because our beef has no added hormones or antibiotics, our beef fat is a healthy, natural dietary fat that provides needed energy and helps build optimum health. Good eating habits and consistent, moderate exercise will also help you lose weight.

Do your beef snacks contain any of the "Big-8" potential allergens?

No. The Big-8 allergens are: milk, eggs, fish, crustacean shellfish, tree nuts, peanuts, wheat, and soybeans. We do not use any of these products in our beef snacks. We are a totally allergen-free USDA plant.

Do your beef snacks work with the Keto diet?

Yes. The Ketogenic (Keto) diet is a very low-carb, high-fat diet that shares many similarities with the Atkins and other low-carb diets. It has been found to be beneficial for some people with Epilepsy and also for weight loss.

The following products are Keto approved with zero carbs and zero sugars:

Hickory Angus Beef Bites
Hickory Angus Beef Sticks
JalapeñAngus Beef Bites

Do your beef snacks really not have any added hormones or antibiotics?

Yes and Yes.

While most  conventional beef comes from cattle that are fed growth hormones, we don’t feel the need to hurry Mother Nature along. We like our cattle to grow naturally the old-fashioned way.

Most conventional cattle are given antibiotics. According to government regulations, these antibiotics can be stopped four months before the cattle are processed and still be labeled “antibiotic-free.”

That is why we are proud of our claim that our ranchers never, ever allow antibiotics.

How can you make such delicious snacks without MSG and sodium nitrites or nitrates?

In addition to not using any added hormones or antibiotics in our All Natural Beef, we believe in only using All Natural Ingredients for all our beef snacks. Common wisdom suggests that MSG and sodium nitrite are necessary to make good jerky.

But we disagree.  We use celery juice powder and leave out the sodium nitrite and the MSG.

We know from experience that if you have tender, delicious beef to begin with, you don’t need MSG as a flavor enhancer. You don’t need sodium nitrites or nitrates or anything artificial. “All Natural” tastes great!

How much protein is in your beef snacks?

Some beef snack companies claim much higher protein counts for their products, but if you read the label you will see that many of them add soy to their products. Since we are an allergen-free plant, we don’t use soy. Our protein is 100% beef protein.

The protein count in our All Natural beef snack varies a little bit from product to product depending upon what other ingredients are used in the recipe. Here is a complete list for you to compare:

Angus Beef Jerky
10 g — Original
10 g — Peppered
6 g — Honey

Angus Beef Sticks
6 g — Hickory
6 g — Jalapeño

Angus Beef Bites
6 g — Hickory
6 g — Original Jalapeño

Where can I find the ingredient statements and nutritional facts for your beef snacks?

If the package only has one printed side, it will be on the front panel. If the package has two printed sides, it will be on the back panel. This information is also available on each product page of our website.

What do you use to naturally sweeten your beef snacks?

We only use three types of natural sweeteners: Honey, Raw Cane Sugar, or Pineapple Juice Concentrate. Our honey is locally sourced raw from Worland, Wyoming and is heated and strained before being added to our beef snack recipes.

About Us

What is your definition of "All Natural"?

When we say we have “All Natural” beef, we mean it. The BRAVE Experience definition of 100% All Natural means: NO Added Hormones, NO Antibiotics, NO, MSG, NO Nitrites or Nitrates, NO Artificial Ingredients, Grass-fed, grain-finished.

The USDA defines “all natural” as merely “minimally processed-no artificial ingredients”—which is often confusing and misleading to consumers.

Needless to say, we prefer our definition of our All Natural Beef Snacks.

Why do your beef snacks cost more than your competitors?

The old adage, “you get what you pay for,” applies directly to the beef snacks you eat. There are four main reasons our beef snacks are more expensive than our competitors:

  1. We are 100% All Natural: It is more expensive to raise “All Natural” cattle than to raise “Conventional” cattle. Our ranchers who raise our All Natural cattle don’t ever give their cattle any added growth hormones or antibiotics. Ranchers who raise Conventional cattle do use added growth hormones and/or antibiotics when they think it is necessary. The All-Natural beef we use costs twice as much as conventional beef that can be purchased on the open market.
  2. We are Food Traceable: We know the name of every ranch from which each box of beef comes. It takes extra time to keep these careful records and pass this information on to our customers who want source-verified food.
  3. We Don’t Use Artificial Ingredients: Along with All Natural Beef, we only use All Natural Ingredients—nothing artificial! It is more expensive to buy Celery Juice Powder and Sea Salt to preserve our beef snacks than to use nitrites or nitrates. It is more expensive to buy high quality spices than to artificially enhance the flavor with MSG.
  4. We are a Craft Facility: Being a “craft”  facility means we make small batches of beef snacks that are hand-cut and hand-packaged by our dedicated USDA plant employees who are happy to put in the time to bring you the most delicious All Natural beef snacks on the market.

We work hard to keep our prices as low as possible so our customers can enjoy all the health benefits and delicious taste of our products.

Our Jerky Snacks

Why do your beef snacks taste so fresh?

Our beef snacks taste so fresh is because the #1 ingredient is high quality beef! Everyone can immediately taste the difference in our beef snacks compared to other beef snacks on the market.

The most common compliment we get is, “Wow this is so good! I can actually taste the beef!”

We don’t need to add too much to our beef because it already tastes so good—just a little salt and pepper, a few spices, and some honey, raw cane sugar, or pineapple juice concentrate to sweeten it up a bit. We like to keep it simple.

What is the shelf life for Beef Jerky?

Because our beef snacks are completely All Natural, an unopened bag of beef jerky will stay fresh for 12 months. Once the bag is opened, we recommend eating the beef jerky within one week and keeping the bag sealed between servings. To extend the freshness, refrigerate or freeze it after one week.

What is the shelf life for Beef Bites

Because our beef snacks are completely All Natural, an unopened bag of beef bites will stay fresh for 12 months. Once the bag is opened, we recommend eating the beef bites within one week and keeping the bag sealed between servings. Our 4 oz. beef bites have a resealable top, but the 2 oz. beef bites do not and can be stored for freshness in a ziplock bag. To extend the freshness, refrigerate or freeze it after one week.

What is the shelf life for Beef Sticks?

Because our beef snacks are completely All Natural, an unopened beef stick will stay fresh for 12 months. Once the beef stick is opened, we recommend eating the beef stick within one day.

Our Ranchers

Are your cattle Grass-fed

Yes, our cattle are grass-fed. Our cattle spend the majority of the time eating and grazing on the high protein grasses of Wyoming. They are never given any added hormones or antibiotics.

The definitions of “grass-fed” beef can be confusing. In January of 2016, USDA dropped its official definition of “grass-fed.” Now you must read labels carefully to find out what kind of “grass-fed” beef products you are really buying. Here are a few guidelines to consider:

  • “Grass-fed” cattle eat natural grasses for at least 50% of the time, but they can have grains added to their diets during the last few months for maximizing flavor. These cattle may or may not have been given hormones or antibiotics.
  • “100% Grass-fed” cattle always eat natural grasses and do not have grains added to their diets. However, these cattle may or may not have been given hormones or antibiotics.
  • “100% Grass-fed & Hormone and Antibiotic Free” cattle always eat natural grasses and are never given any added hormones or antibiotics.

We finish our cattle on grain for a few months because we prefer the taste of grain-finished beef. Also, we believe there are some added nutritional benefits in the beef fat of grain-finished cattle. Beef that is 100% “grass-fed” has an entirely different taste, which some people do not like. All our customers who enjoy our fresh beef and beef snacks prefer the taste of our “grass-fed, grain-finished” beef.  We are proud of the rich taste of our premium beef snacks!

Are your cattle treated humanely?

Yes. Each of the ranchers we contract with to buy cattle must sign an affidavit declaring the humane treatment of their cattle, and the ranches are audited by the Wyoming Business CouncilThe Wyoming Business Council runs this cattle verification program to ensure source, nutrition, vaccination, handling and care, and age through independent, third-party audits.

Why do you only use source-verified Wyoming raised cattle?

Complete source-verification is on thing that makes BRAVE Experience unique. We want our consumers to not only know the COUNTRY (USA) and the STATE (Wyoming) where their beef was sourced—but also the specific RANCH!

We proudly display the name of the ranch where our beef was locally sourced on every bag of jerky and box of beef we ship. A number code is also printed on each beef stick to identify the ranch where it was locally sourced!

What if your cattle get sick and need an antibiotic?

Cattle that get sick are removed from our All Natural program and transferred to a Conventional program where they are given the antibiotics they need to get well. These cattle are never returned to our All Natural program.
